Automated Cabinet

An automated cabinet, also known as an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS), is a computer-controlled system that automatically stores and retrieves items from designated storage locations. It typically consists of a series of cabinets or shelves, with each location assigned a specific barcode or RFID tag.

Automated cabinets are commonly used in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, logistics, and distribution. They provide a number of benefits, such as:

Increased storage capacity and efficiency
Reduced labor costs
Improved inventory accuracy
Increased speed and accuracy of order fulfillment
Enhanced security and protection of stored items

There are different types of automated cabinets such as:

Vertical lift module (VLM) which are used for storage of small items Carousels which are used for storage of small items Unit load AS/RS which are used for storage of large items Automated cabinets are controlled by software that manages the movement of the robotic arm or other mechanism used to retrieve and store items. This software is typically integrated with other systems such as warehouse management systems (WMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to provide real-time inventory tracking and reporting.
