Logistics Operator

As a Logistics Operator (B) withink Operations & Maintenance you are ‘the person behind the machines’, operating various complex and large machines, equipment (including robotics), and installations in a production facility. You control the logistics process by ensuring that all automated parts of the production line are working correctly and you immediately step in if something seems wrong, and troubleshoot the problem to minimise production downtime. Your technical knowledge and experience in dealing with machines is shared with colleagues as you assist them in production planning and associated activities. You may deal with various processes, equipment, raw materials and products and your technical ability is complemented by your accurate and careful work.

Your roles and responsibilities as a Logistics Operator ensure that the logistics process runs smoothly and efficiently. As most production facilities run on a shift system, you may also need to ensure a smooth handover when shifts end so communication needs to be excellent.

  • preparation of various processes;
  • organising and monitoring the planning of production processes;
  • ensuring adherence to quality control requirements;
  • troubleshooting possible and reported problems and identifying solutions;
  • technical maintenance of machines and equipment;

What education and skills do you need as a Logistics Operator?

You will need to demonstrate completion of specific and relevant qualifications, and training such as the following:

  • Logistics Operator B;
  • MBO 3 Logistics;
  • Forklift / reach truck operation;
  • VCA-VOL (safety);
  • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices);
  • Knowledge of process engineering and process control;
  • Completion of relevant ROVC training courses, including 5S in Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen.

Certain personal attributes are also important: in particular, to be customer-oriented, show initiative and have a scrupulous and thoughtful outlook towards the work. You will be expected to work well as part of a team, and be comfortable with shift work.

What salary can you expect as a Logistics Operator?

The salary for a Logistics Operator will depend on a number of factors such as the type and size of organisation, your qualifications and experience, and the seniority of the role on offer. As a guide, you can expect a salary of between $26.000,- and $45.400,- per year plus shift allowance in the Netherlands.
